God planned to gain glory for Himself through defeating Egyptians, and strengthen Israelite’s faith in Him.
Q> Egytians are also God’s children. But He used them on purpose. How come he abandon His children like that? How come God – so called God of LOVE – have the preferance on His children?
God’s image : Love & forgiving → judgemental & cruel

The New Interpreter’s Bible
1. Decisive intention is not Israelite freedom, but Yahweh’s glory, which is decisive.
→ Human instinct maybe God’s decisive intention. Or He definitely uses it.
2. Everything has been preempted by Yahweh, who manages all sides of the drama. The hardening by Yahweh does not violate Pharaoh’s own intention.
3. Protester’s picture includes only themselves and the Egytians, and there is no hope in such a scenario.
4. Moses’s response to the challenge, introduced by “fear not,” and mentioned twice Yahweh.
