Black Swan, 2011
I’ve been expected so much to see this movie. It is because that I thought this movie is well picturing the inner psyche of human being. But apparently, it came out to be failed to meet my expectation.
Most of psychological aspects in this movie were exaggerated and distorted to be dramatic. Acting by Natalie Portman was great for sure. It was conspicuous not only her empathy for her role but also her ballet proficiency. But still, since the movie was too much dramatized so that I couldn’t agree with many scenes.
Simply speaking, the movie is about a perfectionist who is obsessed with “perfect” performance. Her seriousness of perfection caused her schizophrenia and continuously harmed herself.
When we meet with a person who has the perfection characteristic, we feel irritated and sometimes being upset because of his or her perfectionism. Even so, imagine how much it was annoying and torturing to see Nina (Natalie Portman) whose perfectionism was overinflated. There were many times I just wanted to go out during the movie.
Anyway, what can I learn from this movie?
First, perfectionism is unhealthy. It may harm both him/her and other people around them as well. People need to have ‘Let it go,’ or ‘let it be’ philosophy to keep their life healthy.
Second, many people in this society are, in a way, perfectionists. They desire to be number one. They only focus on the consequence rather than the process. But that is very dangerous way of thinking.
